After 30 years in Human Resources, including a decade serving churches and ministries directly, I kept seeing the same pattern: healthy cultures had HR that cared for people, not just compliance. And when a staff was struggling, the root issue was rarely "the rules." It was grace. It was trust.

I've served as HR Director at North Monroe Baptist Church in Louisiana, and advised churches and ministries nationwide on hiring, rewarding, handbooks, staff transitions, and the compliance side of things. What keeps most leaders up at night isn't the paperwork — it's a moral failure they didn't see coming, or having to end an employment relationship well. Getting the foundational pieces right up front is what helps you navigate those moments when they come.
